Session 56: Developing Tolerance - (How) Can Programs be Designed to Engage a Wider Range of Students, Teaching and Learning Styles?
The Roman world was home to people of different religious beliefs, colour, gender, race, wealth and status.  How can we, how should we reflect those differences in our programmes? The Latin teaching community is home to people with differing approaches to pedagogy. Can we give teachers more flexibility and control over pedagogy, so that an individual teacher may more easily vary his/her approach, or a department of teachers may deliver the same content via different approaches? We are researching teaching and learning materials that aim to represent the variety of people in the Roman world and to include regions of the Empire that have, perhaps, been under-represented in recent years. And we are investigating how feasible it is to support very different pedagogical approaches to the same content. Come and see how we are getting on, and give your views on what we’re up to!
